Courtmacsherry RNLI welcomes new All-Weather Shannon class lifeboat home
The new Shannon class lifeboat named Val Adnams arrived into Courtmacsherry, led by a flotilla of local boats, at exactly 13.45, which is also the operational number of the lifeboat. Despite the overcast conditions, crowds turned to welcome the crew and see the village’s new lifeboat.

Three RNLI lifeboat crews receive award for rescue Fanad Head
Lifeboat crews from Lough Swilly and Arranmore in county Donegal, along with Portrush in county Antrim, have received an award from the RNLI for a callout in 2019, which saw the rescuers at sea for hours in Force 11 conditions.

Preparations are well underway to bring the RNLI’s latest lifeboat for the Irish fleet to its new home at Dunmore East next month. The €2.4 million vessel will be the first Shannon class lifeboat to be based in the south-east.

The RNLI is to present three lifeboat crews in Ireland with gallantry awards for their role in a rescue last October that saved nine lives and prevented a 100-metre cargo vessel, carrying 4,000 tonnes of coal, from hitting rocks at Hook Head.

Baltimore RNLI held a special ceremony which saw the station receive a Vellum (Inscription of thanks from the Institution) marking one hundred years of saving lives at sea and the naming the new Atlantic 85 lifeboat Rita Daphne Smyth.
